A solo episode reflecting on political isolation.
SEASON 1 | EPISODE 124
I recorded this before Election Day, and I had spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to decide what I was going to do.
I’ve voted Republican my entire life. I’ve interviewed Michaela Barnett twice. I like Tim Burchett personally. And somehow I still ended up at a place where I didn’t feel like I could vote for any of them.
So in this solo episode, I’m talking through how I got there.
I get into why I’ve become so disillusioned with both parties, why I understand why younger people are losing faith in the American Dream, and why I’ve realized that I’ve probably put way too much hope in politicians and government over the years.
I don’t have some grand solution. I’m mostly just frustrated, conflicted, and trying to figure out what I actually believe now.
And then, because apparently I needed to lighten things up, I also explain why having kids has slowly made me hate Halloween.
So… politics, existential dread, scary costumes, too much sugar, and a little bit of hope that Thanksgiving will be better.
