A solo episode reflecting on the lies we’re told as mothers.
SEASON 1 | EPISODE 123
I promise this is my last episode about Yesteryear, but there was one thing I couldn’t stop thinking about: why have we made motherhood look so miserable?
There is so much pressure on moms now to do everything perfectly. Have the right stuff, create the perfect nursery, raise the perfect kids, feed them the right things, keep them safe from everything, and somehow make the whole thing look beautiful while you’re doing it.
I bought into a lot of that with my first kid. Now that I’m pregnant with my fourth, I look back and think… none of this has to be this complicated.
In this episode, I’m talking about the pressure modern moms are under, what Yesteryear gets right about motherhood, what I still think it misses, and why I wish more women were honest about both how hard and how incredible having kids actually is.
Motherhood will absolutely break you sometimes. But that doesn’t mean it’s miserable.
Kids are awesome. Have more kids. And you probably don’t need all the crap.
